Welcome to Co-op Earth,
Co-op Earth is a solution-oriented community of people developing tools to empower mission based organizations in bringing about a more just and sustainable world. We aim to utilize web-based technologies to spur a new age of egalitarianism, to foster a culture of cooperation where people freely choose to give priority to the common good. We are growing an open source society. Our M.O. is practical idealism, our mantra, what does an ideal world look like and how do we get there from here?
There are solutions to most of humanities problems and we want to see them development and implemented. We think these solutions are greatly based on principles of open source, democracy, and universal virtues. Read our charter of intent(a work in progress) for more details about what we think are common threads of a peaceful and harmonious humanity. .
High-minded vision is necessary but without addressing practical real-world realities such as productive efficiency, we fall short of creating the world that is possible. It is by combining development of new institutional models based on universal virtues along with designing for productive efficiency that we can replace the world around us with an upgraded operating system.
It is only together that we can create a new earth. As Co-op Earth administrators, our goals are to provide:
♦ an open source platform integrating a decentralized social network and an array of productive and collaborative tools
♦ hosting services to organizations that fit with the mission of the charter. Many of these organizations will be non-profits, NGO’s, socially progressive businesses, or think tanks of professionals and everyday citizens with ideas and passion.
♦ sponsorship of free hosting for burgeoning organizations with promise.
♦ a repository of templates generated by the network for reuse in current or future activities of other organizations.
♦ outreach and encouragement to individuals to come together as “think tank communities” to develop new open source egalitarian models for society.
♦ outreach and encouragement to organizations to come together as associations in order to cooperate on overlapping goals.
We have the vision and know-how but have financial limitations at this time. We are in the fundraising stage of development. We know that to succeed we need to launch with a fully functional, easy to use, aesthetically pleasing network and website. We are coordinating with a number of funders and organizations to line-up full funding. Please let us know if we have sparked your interest and would like to request a detailed business plan. We are also always happy to receive any feedback on our project and are open to partnerships, advisement , or new members to our development community.
